Day trip through the hilltop villages of the Luberon
For a day, come and discover the small perched villages emblematic of the Luberon. Cavaillon, Oppede, Ménerbes so many villages that will sublimate your excursion.
A day on the roads of the Luberon (40,5 km - D+ 304 M)
From Cavaillon, by VTC or electric VTC, leave for a day on the roads of the Luberon. At the rendezvous: small hilltop villages, enchanting landscapes and local products.
On your way, visit the Olive Oil Museum in Oppeda. From picking to manufacture, from old presses to today's techniques, the Olive Oil Museum offers you a real journey around the flagship product of Mediterranean cuisine. The tour will be punctuated by an original staging and “multimedia” presentations. You will also witness the complete reconstitution of an old oil mill from Monticello, to fully understand all the stages of olive oil manufacturing in the 1930s. A multitude of memories of this old mill were collected and valued within the museum. To finish this visit in beauty, a tasting of olive oil and wines from the estate will be offered.
Also take time to stop at Oppede-le-Vieux. Built on top of a rocky spur, the village of Oppede-le-Vieux is an exceptional site. After walking its alleys, you will discover a spectacular ensemble: the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame Dalidon and the ruins of the seigneurial castle.
It will then be lunch time.
In the afternoon, head back on the roads to continue your exploration of small villages typical of the Luberon such as Ménerbes and its church Saint-Luc (16th), its old cemetery or the Porte Saint-Sauveur.
Then go through the surprising Les Beaumettes, discreet village of the Luberon on the edge of the old Via Domitia and located below a small hill, where you can admire “Les Baumes”, natural cavities still inhabited.
Gourmet stop recommended at the Saint-Denis confectionery to discover the art of candied fruit.
On the way back to Cavaillon, do not hesitate to stop at the Musée de la Lavender to discover all the secrets of the little blue flower of Provence.
