Discovery of the Montagne de Lure and the Pays de Forcalquier by mountain bike

Day 1: Welcome to Nails

Christine will warmly welcome you to her renovated Provencal farmhouse
in a cottage with a welcome aperitif and a briefing on the stay and the different
itineraries proposed. Dinner and overnight stay at the cottage.

Day 2: Objectif Lure - 29 km /980 m elevation gain - Access to the start by road + 14.5 km AR

Starting from Saint-Etienne les Orgues, the route of this marked circuit offers a wide variety of landscapes between the southern flank of the Montagne de Lure and the Cruis Valley. Regular and low stony climbs, technical and playful descents with beautiful panoramas. Shady passages and lavender fields line the paths. Welcoming bistrot and restaurant in Cruis for a lunch stop. *

Day 3: Walk in Pays de Forcalquier and Pied de Lure - 52,5 km /1140 m elevation gain - Access to the start by road + 25 km AR

You attack this marked route from Fontienne in the undergrowth of oaks and softwood, travel the isolated and picturesque hamlets of La Blache and Revest: the chapel and its lauze roofs are worth a visit. And then, change of scenery: the agricultural plain between Sigonce and Pierrerue. The geological site of Les Mourres and its amazing mushroom-shaped rocks. A small gourmet and cultural detour by the tourist small town of Forcalquier, the city of the four queens. Finally, you go quietly back to the village of Fontienne and enjoy a good dinner at the cottage!

Day 4: Les Crêtes de Lure - 20 km /700 m elevation gain - Access to the start by road + 35 km AR

Starting from the Chapel Notre Dame de Lure, the loop of the day is in the heart of the mountain: ascent in dry beech trees and shady combes to the small ski resort of Lure. At the Sauvagine* bar - restaurant, treat yourself for a thirst-quenching and gourmet break. You then follow the ridges by the GR6 to the Signal de Lure (1826 m altitude). From above you have a breathtaking view of the entire Provence. The way back is through the pastures and a deep forest.
