On the assault of Lure and the Pays de Forcalquier

Come discover and climb the ridges of the Montagne de Lure and its vast expanses, among the perched villages, the scents of thyme and lavender: sensations guaranteed!

Vegetables from the vegetable garden and local products will be on the menu of sportsmen: welcome to the cottage and guest rooms les Granges!

Day 1: Welcome to Nails

Christine will warmly welcome you to her renovated Provencal farmhouse
in a cottage with a welcome aperitif and a briefing on the stay and the different
itineraries proposed. Dinner and overnight stay at the cottage.

Day 2: Duel with Lure and Pays de Forcalquier - 71 km /1800 m elevation gain - Access to the start by road + 12 km AR

Tour marked from Saint-Etienne les Orgues, in the Valle de Cruis: direction Montagne de Lure for a duel at the summit, on the southern slope! On the program: regular and low stony climbs, technical descents and panoramic views; shaded passages and lavender fields that line the paths. Stop at Cruis with its bistro and restaurant. *Continue towards Fontienne: undergrowth of oak and softwood, isolated and picturesque hamlets - the Blache and Revest, the Chapel and its typical lauze roofs. Then change of scenery: the agricultural plain between Sigonce and Pierrerue. The unusual geological site of Les Mourres and its mushroom-shaped rocks. Detour by the small town of Forcalquier for a gourmet and cultural break. A steady climb takes you back to the village of Fontienne.

Day 3: Les Crêtes de Lure - 34 km/1270 m elevation gain - Access to the start by road + 12 km AR

Take the GR markup from Saint-Etienne les Orgues for about twenty kilometers before arriving at the Chapelle Notre Dame de Lure: mountain circuit with ascent in dry beech trees and shaded combes to the small ski resort of Lure. Take a well-deserved break at the Sauvagine* bar - restaurant. Passage in ridges by the GR6 to the Signal de Lure: at 1826 m altitude the view of Provence is breathtaking. Return to the starting point by the pastures and a dense forest.

Day 4: Grand Tour of the Pays de Forcalquier - 50 km /1360 m elevation gain - Departure of the cottage + 3.5 km

Starting from the cottage Les Granges, this day will be rich in discoveries! Small hillside trails with panoramic views, hilltop villages of Limans and Fontienne. Passing through the valley of the Laye with a steep climb to reach Forcalquier: if you are curious, climb up to the citadel where the oppidum offers a superb view of the region; or simply stroll on the terrace of a bistro.Return by the Chemin du Clos de Melly, the valley of Saint-Etienne and Lardiers, a small village surrounded by fields of lavender.
