La Méditerranée à vélo en Verdon : Meyrargues - Draguignan
This stage of the Mediterranean by bike (EV8) between Meyrargues and Draguignan is an opportunity to roam the Haut-Var according to its castles!
It's a bit like walking through the castles of West Haut-Var. Moreover, the private castle of Saint-Martin-de-Pallières illustrates this characteristic, all the remarkable heritage elements enthroned at the top of the villages. After small hilly roads, the route uses old railway rights-of-way.
The Carmes site in Barjols and the Sillans waterfall provide you with pleasant refreshing moments. Between Salernes and Flayosc, the old railway of Provence winds through a breathtaking almost wild parade.
Once the hill to reach Le Flayosquet climbs, it remains to go towards Draguignan in a technical descent.
This section will be arranged gradually, it still has many difficulties, ride carefully.
The route is signposted from Meyrargues train station to Draguignan. Route on shared routes. Then at the exit of Salernes, greenway on the old railway of Provence until Flayosc.
Between Pontèves and Sillans-la-Cascade, very degraded pavement in several places.
Series of short tunnels before Flayosc, switch on its lights, motorized vehicles can arrive in front.
Smooth coating: majority throughout this stage.
Rough surface: in Pontèves on the forest road between the D60 and D560. Before Sillans-la-Cascade, on the old Sillans road parallel to the D560 and just before Sillans on the Chemin de Provence (potholes). Dangerous descent on the Seyran path at Bondil before Draguignan, very degraded surface. After Salernes on the old railway of Provence. On the link to Les Arcs sur Argens, path at the level of the vines of the domain of Ste Roseline.
